2010
The initiative to establish an academic journal focused on development and environmental sustainability was launched by the Postgraduate School of Universitas Brawijaya.

2011
The first issue of the Journal of Development and Sustainable Nature (JPAL) was published as an academic platform for research on sustainable development and environmental management.

2013
JPAL obtained a print ISSN: 2087-3522, enhancing its credibility as a scientific journal.

2015
JPAL implemented a peer-review system to improve the quality of its scientific publications.

2017
JPAL received an e-ISSN: 2338-1671, expanding its accessibility in electronic format.

2018
JPAL was accredited as SINTA 4 by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia.

2020
JPAL upgraded its journal management system to the latest version of Open Journal System (OJS).

2022
JPAL was successfully indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), increasing its global readership.

2023
JPAL published regular issues covering a broader range of topics in sustainable development and environmental studies.

2024
JPAL published Volume 15, No. 2, featuring the latest research on environmental policies, ecotourism, and the green economy.
